Welcome to the MacNeill Blog.

In an effort to strengthen the partnership between school and home, I have created this Blog (web log/journal) that will highlight many MacNeill events and the accomplishments of those in our school community. There are so many things that happen on a daily basis at MacNeill and I hope this blog will give you a greater understanding of your child's school experience. I will also be posting my personal perspective on various educational issues in an effort to stimulate thought, promote reflection and create meaningful discussions. The blog will be updated frequently. Parents, Teachers and Students are encouraged to visit the blog on a regular basis and to read, learn, comment and share in our journey throughout the year.

About Me

I was born and raised in Richmond and have worked in the Richmond School District for the past 11 years.   I attended four Richmond schools--R. J. Tait Elementary, Mitchell Elementary, Cambie Jr. Secondary, and Richmond Sr. Secondary--and look back upon my years as a student in this district with very fond memories.   I credit the influence of my family, as well as the outstanding teachers and coaches who were role models in my life, for inspiring me to pursue a career in the field of education.   I started my teaching career at J.N. Burnett Secondary in 2000.  I taught Science 8-10, Physical Education 8-12 and Health Science 11-12 at Burnett for 7 years; I served in the capacity of Athletic Director and Educational Facilitator for many years.  I completed my Masters of Arts in Leadership and Training from Royal Roads University in 2005 and was appointed as Vice Principal at R.C. Palmer in 2007.  I had a great 4 years at Palmer and am now excited to be a Vice Principal at A.R. MacNeill Secondary.

My wife is an elementary school teacher and an outstanding mother to our three young children.   I also enjoy playing and coaching a variety of sports, both in the school and community.
